The WS Community Energy Co-operative will lead the community to support and build community owned sustainable energy projects within the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville encompassing a variety of renewable technologies.
We will support and guide individuals and local businesses in developing their own renewable energy projects. In time the portfolio of community and private projects will generate enough local energy so that the town, it's business and it's residents
will generate more power than we consume.
We will promote energy and resource conservation within the community by providing strategies that empower residents to take ownership of their consumption pattern and to develop conservation habits for future generations.
Specifically, we will help the community reduce its carbon footprint due to energy use by building zero emission energy generation solutions, which will produce clean energy locally.
We will instil pride in our local community by creating and maintaining a sustainable community energy model.
We will motivate the people of Stouffville to adopt a sustainable lifestyle by engaging a broad cross section of our community
in an on-going conversation that moves our vision rapidly forward.
Finally, with the widespread acknowledgement of the WSCEC as the preeminent experts in community renewable energy, we
become trusted advisors to not only the Whitchurch-Stouffville community but to other like-minded communities across Ontario.
The initiative will serve as an education model for other Ontario communities.
